About Me

My photo
I'm Trenny and my philosophy is rather simple-I believe there are only 2 forces in this world, Love or Fear. My goal is to try to see things through the eyes of love, but I am fallible and do not always succeed. My professional career at the moment is that of a fashion stylist in New York, but my interests are varied. This blog is the like a blog ‘magazine/newspaper/journal', where I’ve combined all the elements of things that I love to learn through those mediums myself. Some life journaling, lots of music. A little health, natural product talk and recipe sharing. Random musings on life experiences, a little style, art and humour. Environment issues too as nature is our greatest gift. I hope it teaches you something, makes you laugh, or gets you interested in something different. If it fires you up,I welcome learning all different points of view. I hope that what I share, including my mistakes, encourages you. *In the end, I believe we are all each other's teachers, so whatever you might be inspired to say/share with me through this blog- good and bad- I fully welcome it. I learn just as much from you. Happiness and Love xoxo TrennyLynn - trennylynn@gmail.com

US Open and Summer Music

Ok. I know I haven't blogged in awhile.....take a look above. See that sign? US OPEN? Well, I live just a mile from the golf course where the US Open took place. And, I also live only a block from the actual train station which I take each morning to work, which, for a week, became the main mode of transportation for people from all over the world attending the US Open. Trains were cancelled, late, changed, crowded. The actual station area became like Barnum and Bailey's three ring circus. So, I succumbed to taking a 7am train to work, so as not to be late, and at the same time, found myself contending with visors, boys, umbrellas, cameras and too many people squished in train cars.
Alas, today IT IS OVER! I am at work at a sane hour, and as promised, am going to give you my little summer music blog post. xoxo
First of all- Nylon magazine is cool. It is no Vanity Fair or Vogue or NYT, however, for trendy new products, fashion, movies, music, etc....it's pretty damn progressive and cool. The June issue was thier music issue and I thought betweem what I am liking new and what I read in the above issue, I could share some things with you and maybe you'd like some as well.
First. cut and paste link below for 20 free downloads of new artists. I must say, having downloaded them myself, it's some good stuff.

Here are some new bands that I have really been enjoying this Spring Summer, that I feel are worth checking out:
*Marina and The Diamonds -
It's actually just "Marina" herself. Her influences are PJ Harvey, Elliot Smith, Tori Amos, Radiohead, and Patti Smith. She plays guitar and piano ---you get the idea. I really like her

*Victoria Hesketh-
She's like old school Marianne Faithful gorgeous, but does European synth pop, but in that nice Groove Armada in the background at a cafe way and her music and she are very sexy.

*Grizzly Bear
An adorable 4 peice band from out West, they snagged a gig as the opening act for Radiohead and are just great songwriters. Thier latest album is Veckatimest. It's ok- but I would reccomend the record before, "Yellowhouse'>

*The Dead Weather
What can I say? Jack White of the White Stripes' new project. Clever, brilliant, fun, with a female lead to couple Jack's voice, really good. Some Zeppelin vibe too.

*Little Boots
19, cute. From Brooklyn. Rapper. One of the cutest little rappers to hit the scene in awhile. Her song 'Meddle' is super cool for rap.

*Passion Pit
Think "My Sharona" from The Knack. Same fun vibe/feel. Cool song- "I've Got Your Number"

Just some of the new bands I have been checking out. There are/will be more, so stay tuned. And I will end by saying that I am STILL loving the Lady Gaga record. Forget the overplayed "Just Dance" and "Pokerface"---No. Listen to the non radio tracks. This is where the good shit is---that's always the case anyway.

Hope you find something you like!

Girly Victoria's Secret Fun

Went to Victoria's Secret the other day to get some much needed summer panties. And you've got to admit, whoever is in charge of styling and merchandising for their stores, sure knows what they hell they are doing to attract a girl in off the street. It's a pink polka dot, pantie paradise...................
..... not to mention there was a trashy porn girl shoe store next store that, although it had nothing I would strap to my feet, was cool enough to paint their wall pink and adorn it with a Bruce Springsteen quote. :)

SOTD-Dave Matthews - Stay or Leave

I was talking with a friend about the music snob in me the other day and my initial dis-like for The Dave Matthews band. You know, like the early 90's popular band that all the drunk frat boys cranked at keg parties, and a band that the radio played at nasseum.
So, I refused to listen or give them a chance. Not fair. But again, me being a stuck up snob about popular music.
Until....this song. 6 years ago, my girlfriend Melissa was packing to go to Europe to be with her new boyfriend, but, at the same time, was also leaving her ex-boyfriend in NY behind, who was still in love with her. Upon coming to see her and say goodbye, he gave her a mix cd, which she put on after he left, as she continued to pack.
As I sat there in the silence with her watched her pack, this song came on and made her cry and me cry.....and changed my mind about Dave Matthews.
It's a beautiful song.
Take a listen.

This past Sunday beach day seems so far away today :(

Me and my girlfriend Lisa, I sware, we were JUST at the beach on Sunday. Look- happiness on a sunny day, vs. getting a disease on the streets of NYC in a torrential downpour this morning.
This weather in NY SUCKS!!!!!

SOTD Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow

I've been bad with my blog. Got a couple of emails from readers asking where I have been.
HERE I AM!
Just trying to move and keep it together, so odd schedule these days. I've missed you.
Anyway, a little something, for now. A song.
In the next couple of days, I am going to do a serious, new summer music blog that will be more informative and give you some new music ideas and where to find them.
Until then, I really am loving the Black Eyed Peas.
They're back--and they did it right.
Sticking to their original, sexy, cute, trendy, hip hop style.
Fergie is so goddamn sexy and cool, and Will I Am is a tight producer, so I am glad they rocked it right.
This is a tight, hot song.

Enjoy!
