About Me

My photo
I'm Trenny and my philosophy is rather simple-I believe there are only 2 forces in this world, Love or Fear. My goal is to try to see things through the eyes of love, but I am fallible and do not always succeed. My professional career at the moment is that of a fashion stylist in New York, but my interests are varied. This blog is the like a blog ‘magazine/newspaper/journal', where I’ve combined all the elements of things that I love to learn through those mediums myself. Some life journaling, lots of music. A little health, natural product talk and recipe sharing. Random musings on life experiences, a little style, art and humour. Environment issues too as nature is our greatest gift. I hope it teaches you something, makes you laugh, or gets you interested in something different. If it fires you up,I welcome learning all different points of view. I hope that what I share, including my mistakes, encourages you. *In the end, I believe we are all each other's teachers, so whatever you might be inspired to say/share with me through this blog- good and bad- I fully welcome it. I learn just as much from you. Happiness and Love xoxo TrennyLynn - trennylynn@gmail.com

Oxo - Whirly Girl

1983- me-pink pumps-8th grade.
This is on the XM 80's station right now and it's just one of those perfect, simple, boppy 80's songs and I literally haven't heard it since 1983. 25 years-that's a long time.
80's fans, might appreciate this one. haha-Whirly GIrl. Talk about a vapid flashback-awesome!

JD Salinger -RIP

" Boy, when you're dead, they really fix you up. I hope to hell when I do die somebody has sense enough to just dump me in the river or something."

~J.D. Salinger

If you haven't read it- just do so-'The Catcher In The Rye' A literary masterpiece in so far as a character portrayal in the book's main one, Holden Caulfield. The character's bitterness, self centeredness and anger and the folly and misfortune that he creates (all on his own quite comically) because of these things is quite spectacular. I have read few other books that quite capture young loathing as well as Salinger did here. A worthy read. But damn Salinger, you didn't have to pull the old isolation bitter deal because you write. Not all of us who are driven to create live everyday, to our own detriment, the human misery we can sometimes fictionalize. Well--you lived it a long time. 91 is a good run.
God Bless and thank you for your work.
**Franny and Zooey is really good as well.

Pink - Dear Mr President Live

I saw Pink's latest tour last night on pay per view. One of the best pop vocalists of her generation--and one of the few that is truly not afraid to say, essentially, 'fuck off' if you don't want to hear the truth.
The truth. All that matters.
Anyhow, this one is one of my favorites from a few years back. Obviously, when Bush was President. Just a great song.

My Chicago Stay-The Wit Hotel

I'm in CHicago for the next week, and am staying at The Wit on the corner of Lake and State Street. I highly reccomend.
www.thewithotel.com
Look at my lovely bed with reading material (including The Chicago Sun Times AND The New York Times) Now that's a proper bed. You can always tell a fine boutique hotel when they include the correct newspapers

and the (albeit freezing right now) roof top deck for a Martini at the end of the day

My Favorite Song Lyric..And Martin Was There

My songwriting, soon to be star friend, Martin and his lovely Holly have been traveling around the world this winter as he works his lounge magic on the Princess Cruise ship. And this stop in one of his tropic adventures was a lucky one that he just posted. Look at that, there on the wall.
Read it. The Beatles were always right...All You Need Is Love.
And what that up there says, is all you need to know to be free and happy.
That's it.

The Washington Post Word Game. Funny, But Sensical

The Washington Post's Style Invitational asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition. Here are this year's winners:

1. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.

2. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period.

3. Giraffiti (n): Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.

4. Sarchasm (n): The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and theperson who doesn't get it.

5. Inoculatte (v): To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.

6. Hipatitis (n): Terminal coolness.

7. Osteopornosis (n): A degenerate disease. ( that one got extra credit)

8. Karmageddon (n): Its like, when everybody is sending off all thesereally bad vibes, right?
And then, like, the Earth explodes and it'slike, a serious bummer.

9. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.

Martin Luther King- I Have a Dream

Everything starts with a dream. Thank GOD for the people in this world, no matter how small or grand the scale, that, despite their fear, stand up and speak what their heart is telling them to speak. I wanted to post my favorite part of MLK's infamous speech to remind all of us just how important being brave and speaking the truth is.

I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day the state of Alabama, whose governor's lips are presently dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, will be transformed into a situation where little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers.
I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

Haiti and Pro-Activity. All we've got- Proactivity

The recent earthquake in Haiti has caused a level of devastation that I hope most us will never have to suffer through in our lifetimes. I knew I wanted to help but I didn’t know which charity, or charities, would put my donation to the best use, besides, of course, The Red Cross.
Fortunately, I found a report on CNN that recommended a site that actually helps you make your choice. The site is called “Charity Navigator” and it provides an overview of more than a dozen charities that are currently active in the Haitian relief efforts.
In their own words:
” Here are a few of our 3 and 4-star charities responding to the crisis along with a synopsis of their plans. Each of thesecharities has a history of working on massive disasters and/or of working in Haiti”
So if you’d like to help those in need in Haiti, but don’t know where to turn for more “unbiased” information…
Check out Charity Navigator for Haitian Relief Programs:

CREATE YOUR OUTCOME

Today's post from a wonderful blog I occasionally read -www.manifestmindset.com

Our experiences on the planet are in these areas:
health, relationships, finances

Some may like including more categories. For me, I like to keep things as much as possible in a list that does not exceed three items. Keeping things as simple as A, B, C has worked very well for me and it might for you as well.
You may be familiar with the phrase “in the zone”. I first heard it used by sports players who would describe their state when they were playing at their best. We all can relate to being “in the zone”….those periods of time when all are in sync and flowing in the direction we prefer.
When I am in “the zone” I am at my best for others. When I am healthy, when the relationship and financial areas of my life are in balance, I am at my best for me and of most value for others. Note: being in balance means being grateful for where you are right now regardless of your circumstances, while you continue to expand creating new experiences.
What is the measurement I use as a guide for staying in or at least being close to being in “the zone”? That measurement is happiness. The most unselfish thing I do is to focus on being happy. A year ago I commented on a sentence in the book “Happier Than God” by Neale Donald Walsh: “God intends for us to be happy ever after.” There is a lot to that sentence. It is real, practical and not just some fairy tale story.
The summary points that follow are a powerful guide that I use all the time and I share with you the intention that on this New Year 2010 and every day you are happy and fulfilled:

1. Be very clear about what you want…very clear. Don’t keep the Universe guessing.

2. Once you are clear as to what you want, pay very close attention to the messages you are intended to receive. God guides all of us when we ask and pay attention. Another favorite resource of mine is Conversations With God by Neale Donald Walsch. On the jacket cover of the three book series is a message that resounded with me the first time I read and I refer to it often:
“The words to the next song you hear, the information in the next article you read, the story line of the next movie you watch, the chance utterance of the next person you meet, or the whisper of the next river, the next ocean, the next breeze that caresses your ear – all these devises are Mine; all these avenues are open to Me. I will speak to you if you will invite Me. I will show you then that I have always been there. Always.”
3. Focus every day on the actions you are taking and make sure they are in alignment with your higher purpose. Spend not less than 15 minutes each day on the direction of your energy. Pick your favorite resource book and rewrite the key points that you want to have become part of who you are. I write this because I know the value for me of doing this process. I write these articles and all the material I share with members of Manifest Mastermind because I know how this process has transformed my life and continues to do so. I feel it will work for you. In fact I know it will if you do your part.
4. No matter what your intended outcome is for 2010 and beyond, optimal health, a youthful body, loving relationships, financial independence as defined by you….add your list here…..hold the image and dismiss from who you are all blockages to the images you create.
Summary The Law of Attraction in Action:
Visualize the outcome you are creating, stay focused on that picture as you continue to go about the daily tasks you have chosen. The only qualification is “God within me and all, these or something better according to your will.”

L:ove and happiness to all my readers for 2010. xoxoxox

Jethro Tull - Life's A Long Song, 1971 - The Minstrel Looks Back

I've been wanting to post this Jethro Tull song forever, but I like to post songs when it has some sort of more to it than just posting a song because it is a personal favorite. Who cares, right? That's boring. But today's little Alan Watts video, I think it makes sense for this to be the song for today. Jethro Tull was actually a very big believer of a song having a bigger message than simply just rock and roll and/or being in love with a girl. Don't forget about good old, flute playing Ian Anderson and his band Jethro Tull. Hmm.... now I feel like putting on a corset and going to a Renaissance Fair. NOT.

Music and Life - Alan Watts

I'm a big fan of Alan Watts, but have not listened to his stuff in awhile, until someone sent me one of his shorts yesterday.
In this one, entitled, 'Music and Life', as is the same with Buddhist Philosophy, and God and Love and all the great writers and philosophers I so admire.....Alan Watts makes a great point. Your life is a long symphony and a song that you are supposed to "sing all along the way". Not trudge through to the weekend, or the paycheck or the vacation or the 'right' job or the 'right' relationship or some elusive 'goal'. Note at the end when the little cartoon man gets to the 'finish' sign, the sign bounces back to start and so on and so on. It's not about some sort of finish, so-------------
Be happy TODAY!
xoxox Happy New Year
ps- I'm a big Alan Watts fan. He's clever and witty and what I would call a comedic armchair philosopher. If you like this, you should check out more of his stuff by typing him in Google or the youtube search bar.

New Years Day Beatles Rock Band Domination

While you are all nursing champagne headaches, I will be dominating the Beatles Rock Band Vocals today. Oh yes- "Helter Skelter', I WILL get 100% on you before this day is over. Oh yes I will.

*ps-- Beatles Rock Band is all that they say it is. Worth it if you like to jam to some classic tunes. Fun graphics and they certainly didn't miss a harmony or a bass line or any nuance, no matter how small it is. I heard they just released 'Van Halen' rock band a couple of weeks ago. David Lee Roth....you're next on my list.
