About Me

My photo
I'm Trenny and my philosophy is rather simple-I believe there are only 2 forces in this world, Love or Fear. My goal is to try to see things through the eyes of love, but I am fallible and do not always succeed. My professional career at the moment is that of a fashion stylist in New York, but my interests are varied. This blog is the like a blog ‘magazine/newspaper/journal', where I’ve combined all the elements of things that I love to learn through those mediums myself. Some life journaling, lots of music. A little health, natural product talk and recipe sharing. Random musings on life experiences, a little style, art and humour. Environment issues too as nature is our greatest gift. I hope it teaches you something, makes you laugh, or gets you interested in something different. If it fires you up,I welcome learning all different points of view. I hope that what I share, including my mistakes, encourages you. *In the end, I believe we are all each other's teachers, so whatever you might be inspired to say/share with me through this blog- good and bad- I fully welcome it. I learn just as much from you. Happiness and Love xoxo TrennyLynn - trennylynn@gmail.com

SOTD- Love Sex Magic

The title alone.......awesome
but the video....
hhhoooottt!

But, wait a minute. I do have to give pause at the pornographic proportions of this video and junior high girls watching it. There sure is a fine line between art being provocative and censorship.

Sammy Pie

***Sammy, above, rocking it out Santa Con/Glam Rock/Roller Disco style!***

My friend Sam. She is one of the few friends I have that loves, just as much as I do:

1)Dressing up in 70's glam rock makeup 'just because'
2)Wearing a superhero/wonderwoman costume whenever the opportunity arises
3)Singing "Welcome to The Jungle" by Guns n Roses @ Karaoke over cliche picks like, 'New York' by Frank Sinatra or something serious by Mariah Carey
4) Dancing as ridiculously as possible in the middle of a work day just to make each other laugh
5) Roller Disco'ing' all night long
6) Celebrating the mundane on an average Tuesday, because life is too short

*We have some making up to do, she and I. But she is here and I adore her. Any of you that I know and love that don't know her, would love her too if you ever meet her.
We should all have a couple of friends in our lives as funky and fun and celebratory as some of the friends I have. It's good for the soul!

Special Olympics

I was a geek in High School. I got good grades and worked in the Principal's office first period. (I know, NERD-VILLE!)
Because of this, during my Junior year in High School, I was pulled out of 6th period study hall by the Special Education teacher, who said that the Vice Principal had recommended that I would be good as a teacher's assistant in the special education classroom. To me, it sure beat sitting in study hall, so I did it and liked it so much, that I continued doing it through my senior year.

I honestly think it was my propensity to relate to the underdog that made me so good at it. (Or, as I can hear my friend say "Uh, no Trenny, it's cuz 'it takes one to know one'!" lol)
Joking aside, doing this was actually one of my earliest memories of feeling the feeling you get when you can help someone else. We can sometimes be so self centered, especially when we are young, that it became a fantastic humbling experience for me. I actually considered, when I started college, of becoming a Special Education teacher. But, alas, as we know, I had bigger (more- ahem- self centered) desires in the fashion and music world.

Anyhow, I have made a decision. And, I have always wanted to do this. I am going to volunteer a day at The Special Olympics this year. I know it's not much, but it is something, right? That is, if they are held in NY. I don't mention this act to solicit responses of how nice this is. But, to urge you to give. To volunteer in some capacity, to something. Philanthropy, no matter how big or small, is so very important in many ways.
If you do, infact, want to do it for The Special Olympics, here is the site:

http://www.specialolympics.org/
*They have branches all over the country/world. So, see what you can do.

Oh- and here is the New York division:

**Subtitles? Sorry.**

HAIR- The Musical

It's true. It's really true y'all.
My favorite musical of all time---the musical I was always bummed that I was too young and too far away to experience on Broadway in NYC, is opening ON Broadway, in NYC, this Tuesday.

And...I LIVE here.

Hell yes.

Cindy Crawford. Uh- She's 44 people

Flipping through a fashion magazine and coming upon photos like these of women who are still super hot and sexy in their mid 40's, is so relieving and inspiring. Yes, I know she has 'money' for the little tricks like flying to Europe for Botox and who knows what else. But, we can still stay sexy as we age, as long as we do our best to take care of ourselves.
Whew- that body is pretty fine, no??

Dalai Lama

*From a blog I read this morning. Just nice.

From The Dalai Lama: Think As You Wake Up

“Every day, think as you wake up,

Today I am fortunate to have woken up,

I am alive, I have a precious human life,

I am not going to waste it,

I am going to use all my energies to develop myself,

To expand my heart out to others,

To achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings,

I am going to have kind thoughts towards others,

I am not going to get angry,

or think badly about others

I am going to benefit others as much as I can”

Personal Spring Cleaning!

**Check this out. From a blog I occasionally read:**

“Let go of the old and make way for the new!”

Spring has sprung. It's time for spring cleaning on every level. Start pruning the dead branches in the yard, tossing old magazines, clothes, furniture, and anything that drains the positive energy you have to offer your family, business, friends and humanity. Time to let go.

Start by:

1. Recycling: Go through old magazines, books, or catalogs, and get rid of them. Bring the magazines to a doctor’s office, dentist’s office, hair salon, nail salon or health club. Donate books to your local library. Recycle, it helps the environment.

2. Exchange: Gather your friends and neighbors to exchange your clothes, jewelry, household items with each other. Like the white elephant game, which is typically played during holiday season.

3. Donate: This is a great time to go through clothes or household items with an eye for sharing the wealth with those in need. We all have things that we no longer use that could be life-changing for someone else. We can help them with their mission by blessing them. All the old suits or dresses could give someone a new outfit for a job interview: impacting lives. The Goodwill and Salvation Army are great to donate.

4. Release Old Energy - Go through the files in your office, your contact list, delete items on your computer, and let go of outdated resources, emails, information, old ideas, negativity and non producing habits that need to be released for good. Make the space for new business, fabulous brilliant opportunities, or even more creative ideas that make sense for who you are now presently in the moment.

At a time while so many are feeling apprehensive about the future, it’s a great time to clean house and let go of the old for once and for all. A little spring cleaning goes a long way in making space for something great to enter your life. Enjoy a renewed sense of spaciousness and mental freedom!

Have an amazing, healthy, vibrant, brilliant, giving, productive week. Be the difference- go and make a difference.

SOTD- Paul Simon BBC TV -Love Me Like A Rock

People always get frustrated when they want to sing and they are trying to learn to harmonize. If you want to learn how to sing harmony- this is how I did it -to this song with my sister in the back seat of the Chevy Impala when I was a little girl in the 70's. It is STILL fun to sing along too!

Love Me Like a Rock! Hell Yea! The best harmony teacher ever!

Gibson and North Haven Beaches!

Ahh.. A friend posted these pictures from one of my last 'girls'/friend days at the beach in Sagaponack, NY. Boy, do I dream about the beach often towards the tail end of winter! Look at my pretty beach mamas! If you want to go to a beautiful beach on the East End of Long Island,NY- you certainly cannot go wrong with Sagaponack. Sagaponack is truly one of my favorite places on earth.
These photos are from a party that a local guy sponsors at Gibson Beach in The Hamptons for all the locals (like us) who had tolerated the city people and tourists all summer. While they would all be heading back to the city, we could again breathe and have our 'home' back. It is a fun tradition where we could all let loose- finally. And, see all the friends you were too busy to see when you were working waitressing doubles!
*Boy, I cannot believe that I am in the middle of that pyramid holding that weight. **I must have had a few numbing cocktails at that point!* haha

*Also, speaking of waitressing, I clipped the following from an interview I read from InStyle with Sandra Bullock the other day and thought it was so true. It went like this:

IN Style: "So, Sandra, what did you learn from your early days as an actress waiting tables?"

Sandra: "If you wait tables, especially in New York, it helps you to do an array of other jobs. I think that the President of the US should wait tables! You connect with human beings and learn how to deal with many different personalities- both pleasant AND difficult. You also learn how to serve someone, care for them and at the same time, if the place is nice, learn about wines and great food. It's humbling, and we all could use to be humbled a few times in a lifetime. I'm a civil servant, even as an actress. That's what we are supposed to be in this world. To serve. To care for the ground, the buildings, the trees, your neighbors, your animals, your family and friends. You have to be a servant to the world around you or it doesn't work well enough."

The Kardashians have a show-Holy Crap.

Kim Kardashian is beautiful. However, that aside, did you know she and her family have a show on the E! Entertainment Channel? This excerpt that I caught sums up the series. (ie: A waste of brain energy)

Kim's mom (phone rings): Hello?
Joe Francis (creator and CEO of Girls Gone Wild): Hey there, how are you?
Kim's mom: OMG! Joe, how are you?
Joe: I'm in Jail
KM: You're still in jail? Poor baby (uh, poor baby? for preying on stupid drunk college girls?)
Joe: Yes- but I'm wondering if you and your girls (Kim and her 2 sisters) can do me a favor?
KM: Yes, anything
Joe: Can you get the girls to do a Girls Gone Wild/Ashley Paige bikini photo shoot for me?
KM: Of course.
Joe: You know, just trying to keep business rolling
KM:Anything for you Joe. Do you need anything in jail?

*This should give you all you need to know to make an informed decision as to the whether you might become a dedicated viewer or not. I can just hear my friend saying, as he does when I petition to watch The Girls Next Door, :
"No, no, I just can't watch this vapid, senseless drivel. Can't do it."

Facebook Flashback Hell

The messages I always dread from Facebook in my gmail: "you've been tagged in a photo by__________ " (the worst when it is a name from high school whom you haven't seen in 20 years.) Above are the ones I got 'tagged' in tonite.
Me- 17 years old. Illinois. In my mom's cocktail dress trying to look like a 'woman'. With my nerdy 'comicon' friends! Wow- I look chubby. Ahh...I miss those fuller tata's and that nice round booty. Maybe 20 pounds might do me good. So funny to see these!

SOTD FRANCE JOLI COME TO ME

I'm doing two disco songs today. I can't neglect this one. I was a little girl, wanna be singer when this came out. I played the 45 over and over--she was pretty and 16 (just freaking 16!!!!) and singing this and I wanted to be her!
Just a great song

SOTD I Feel Love - Donna Summer

The Story Of Anvil

Just saw a review on how wonderful this new documentary is. With how much I not only love Rock and Roll, but also documentaries, I cannot WAIT to see this. You all should go as well. They are saying that it really touches on what is it like to be a driven artist who really, really doesn't give up on their dreams- even against all odds of society, age, culture, etc...

I like that they say -"A must see for dreamers everywhere". ok- That's me. I'm sold. :)
Just looks like a great documentary and thought I would make you aware of it as well.
**Check out the post below for the UK Trailer**

Anvil Trailer. To Get An Idea

Living What You Dream About

***My friend had this book in her bag, (I forget the name, but I will get it). I read an excerpt and thought a piece of it was interesting enough to share.
Blockages To Manifesting Your Dreams and How To Dismiss Them.

All of us have an emotional response to everything we experience.
There are no exceptions to this. The type of emotional response
determines the frequency of vibration we transmit.
The highest frequency is love and lowest is fear. Those are the
emotional opposites. Both are intense and both provide the perfect
examples of manifesting exactly what we are passionate about.
Positively passionate - Negatively passionate.
For any of us to manifest anything on our dreams list we must be
feeling the energy state that is in alignment with the same energy
state of what we want.
For example, if you want to take a trip to a special place, you can
begin by seeing and imaging in your mind, what you will see, feel,
hear and touch when you are there.
When you can imagine you are already there and feel that you are,
the feelings will be nearly identical to how you will feel when you
are physically there.

If you only want to go to a place because you are unhappy where you are now - then what you are actually doing is increasing the
passion for what you don't want vs. what you do want.

The Law of Attraction tells us we get what we focus on. If we focus
on what we don't want we actually attract more of the same - which
is unhappiness and dissatisfaction for what or where we are now.
A state of negative emotion blocks the energy that is intended to
manifest our dreams. Fear, anger, hate, resentment, negative
opinions, feelings of wanting to be doing something more with our
lives all are blockages to the positive energy of creation.
Once we are in an negative emotional pattern it will require our
complete focus and attention to move past that state and into one
where are in alignment with what we want.
When we know we want to be in a state of love, we may be challenged on how to get there if we are focused on experiences that may include financial challenges, relationship issues, memories of wonderful experiences that are now just memories and more. However, recognizing those emotions - results from how we choose to process this information.
When we feel it is impossible to move into a state of peace and
happiness it is usually because we are focused on reprocessing past events that we don't "prefer" or we are fearful of future events.
  • There is an intended purpose for your life. You are intended to live the life of your dreams.

  • Be grateful, be kind, and be positive and it will all come to you.

Crate and Barrel. New Apartment Inspiration

When I get my next new place, I am going to decorate it in a colorful happy, unisex, Hawaiian style. The pieces I photographed, above, from a recent trip to Crate and Barrel, are my new inspirations.

Aren't they fun? You should really visit one of their stores. They've really grown stylistically and have recently become much more young, hip and artistic.

But....if I were to stay 'girly'- this bedroom isn't bad....

SOTD Warning sign - coldplay

Yes- the past 3 years have brought Coldplay into the mainstream. Good for them- boo for us early fans. Add to that, Chris Martin's marriage to Gwenyth Paltrow, and you have the perfect recipe for overexposure. I hate when this happens with a band. I know I should be happy for the band's success, that everyone finally sees what all of us early fans saw so long ago, but I just kind of want to keep certain, special bands to myself. The bad girl, music snob in me I suppose.

I always felt this way about Coldplay. When this song came out 7 years ago, I thought it was so truthful, vunerable and bittersweet. Driving to the airport tonite, Coldplay came on in the car, and made me so happy. Made me remember this beautiful song.
**Enjoy this one. It is, in my opinion, one of Coldplay's best songs.

H&M Panty Delight- Herald Square, NYC

Herald Square is one of my favorite little sections of NYC. It is just blocks from Fashion Avenue and Penn Station. It has all the groovy little fun, cheap stores a girl could want. H&M, Abercrombie and Fitch, Forever 21, Old Navy, Le Chateau, The Gap...oh and Lush. Lush is an AMAZING, all organic, homemade body and skin care line! I'll blog about them another day.

Anyhow, walking into H&M in Herald Square today to pick up a few pairs of cheap new Spring panties, I was delighted with the pink and white delicious, girly selection! Look! How much fun is it to be a girl, is all I can say!!

Happy Happy Joy Joy

***LOOK WHO'S REUNITING THIS SUMMER. UM....ONLY MY FAVORITE BAND OF ALL TIME!
***Check out the website livenation for tickets near you!

"The legendary high energy live act No Doubt were formed in Anaheim, CA and reached international success with their 1995 release Tragic Kingdom. That album, including the mega hit "Don't Speak" among many others, has sold over 15 million copies worldwide. Their follow up, Return of Saturn, was nominated for the Best Rock Album at the 2001 Grammy Awards and granted a four star review by Rolling Stone Magazine. The band went on to win two Grammy Awards for 2001's multi-platinum Rock Steady, play gigs with U2 and The Rolling Stones, and perform at the Superbowl XXXVII Halftime Show in 2003 alongside Sting. Further success followed with the double platinum The Singles 1992-2003, featuring the hit "It's My Life," and a subsequent tour with Blink-182. In November of 2008, after a nearly 5 year hiatus, Gwen Stefani, Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont and Adrian Young announced plans to reform for a 2009 summer tour with special guests Paramore."

**Live Nation is so much better than Ticket Master. It's business practices are much better (Ticket Master has screwed over me and my friends numerous times with overcharges and incorrect seating) Also, Live Nation has video clips, reviews, etc.... I just find it more user friendly, easier to navigate and fun.

My friend Barb

http://tinyurl.com/b2utzo

This is my friend Barbara's Facebook page. Just check out her profile pic. Now, when I first saw what it was, I was disturbed. Listen, I am as into 'sexy' and putting your stuff out there (tastefully.) **Dan- you keep quiet**, as any girl you will find. But, when I saw this, I sent her an email and said she should put some damn clothes on. You see, she's a really cool, smart, self respecting woman and I just thought it cheapened her to place this as her profile pic.

But, she said that she thought she looked, as she put it, "pretty, happy, sexy and cute"- and that looking at it made her happy. ( as well as, I can imagine, lots of others. Ahem) And you know, if she's gonna roll with it- her perogative. And all that said, I do LOVE the picture! Makes me want to make out with her.
Just thought you would appreciate the photo because it really is so cute, sexy and well done. Wish I had a pic of me like that. But, I wouldn't (Dan, still, you keep quiet), I would never make it my profile pic. You know?
I mean, she loves her body and isn't afraid to portray it. She really does find it artful, not slutty. So, well, that can be very beautiful. It's just there are a lot of creeps out there and as much as I love my body and am comfortable with nudity, I think it is too gratuitous to share it with creepy strangers. That's all. I'd rather save that for my man.

**Barb, I'm sure that you are helping lots of guys out in the wee small hours of the nite. If you know what I mean. Sorry. Creepy, but true. lol *

Aversion Therapy

I was never, never a big curser. That is, before now.
Infact, my Grandmother Margie used to always say the following:

"Trenny, a real lady never drinks too much, smokes, nor curses in public. If you want society to treat you with respect, you have to live like a lady."
***PS- Sorry Grandma Marge, your lessons might have been lost on me for awhile- a long while-there" lol

Well, recently, over the course of the past 6 months, my usage of words like 'motherfuck', 'fuck' and/or 'fucking', have become out of control. So much so, that my boss called me out on it the other day at work. I guess I had cursed numerous times one morning and a client overheard. That's not good people. There have also been a few public outings over the course of the past 3 months where it has been as issue. I have actually found it rather embarrassing to tell you the truth. Peppering your discussions and storytelling with curse words, is the quickest way, to me, to bring the validity and intelligence of what you are saying down to a pretty low level. I HATE when I am out and I can overhear someone talking and every other word is 'fucking'.
I knew it was bad when a good friend- who does his share of 'fuck this' and 'fuck that' -pointed it out to me last night. And, it was Saturday night, we were playing music and having a couple of cocktails.
That was it. If, in this scenario, it is being noted as bad, there is a major problem.

So, he said "Trenny, you need aversion therapy". He then proceeds to put a rubberband around my wrist (above) and tells me to snap it each time I curse. Trust me, if you snap hard enough, this hurts like hell. At first I thought it was silly. But, I've woken up with it still on my wrist and I've decided, "you know what? I'm gonna do it. I'll give it a week." SNAP! Every time I turn into a white trash, trucker. Ouch- I think I might be snapping a lot this week.
I will report back in a week to let you all know how it goes. Wish me luck!

My Damn Sister Shannon

My sister Shannon sure has a way of sending me these damn emails that just leave me in tears. Today I got the following:

Time passes. Life happens. Distance separates. Children grow up. Jobs come and go. Love waxes and wanes. Men don't do what they're supposed to do. Hearts break. Parents die. Colleagues forget favors. Careers end.

BUT......... Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her can reach. When you have to walk a lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women (or sometimes men* :) in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end. Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you...Or come in and carry you out. Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all add a great gift to our life.

The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other. Every day, we need each other still.

Blondes Have More Fun?

Wow. I found this on my computer today. This is me- BLONDE! Roller Disco-ing at The Roxy in NYC for my birthday. Yikes! Oh my dear Roxy, why oh why did you have to close down and take all the rollerskates with you? :(
Anyway, I am kind of shocked as to how different I look like as a Blonde. You have NO IDEA how much my family and friends begged me to go back to Brunette all those years. Something I finally did this past summer. The Blonde was fun when first I did it- I was working in music and sang in a band- but 10 YEARS? Whoa.
Trust me, I am naturally a Brunette, in all ways, and am so much happier being totally myself. But, believe me when I tell you- I didn't go down without a fight. It wasn't pretty towards the end. I held onto that bleach bottle for dear life and had to have a friend wrangle me to get that initial drop of brown hair dye on my head. lol

*But it's funny. This picture kind of does have that "Blondes Have More Fun" feeling to it, doesn't it? But Blondes, unfortunatley, also need a hell of a lot more conditioner to keep that dry, straw, over processed crap from drying up and falling out. hahaha

SOTD- Neneh Cherry- Buffalo stance

Well- not only did I see this on VH1 Classic the other day, but also heard it on XM yesterday at work---and impressed all the girls with my perfect, lyrically correct, attitude riddled performance! I impressed even myself with my memory of these oldie, but goodie lyrics!

One of the most important aspects of this song is my penchant for coming up with a funny catchphrase to refer to people as. Lately, it's been "Lady" (from me telling all the mannequins to "Lay Lady Lay" when we had to re-dress them. Oh- don't ask)
I was 19 when this song came out and I loved this album and adored this song, and, for some reason took to calling everyone in my life "SUCKA" (note the Sucka catch at the start of the song)
Everyone was 'sucka'. My boyfriend, my mom, my boss, friends, everybody! It actually became a humorous problem when I continually called my boss Al 'sucka' at work. hahaha

Anyway- here's to the superfly fresh late 80's Brooklyn Rap girls!!

The 'New' Bonnie and Clyde

Hmm....Some movies should just be left alone. Like this one, the original 'Bonnie and Clyde' with Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty. I mean, it excites me when a classic is re-made, so that a younger generation (someone like my niece Jordyn) can get to know a great film. However, there is always the high risk that it might fall flat and ruin the wonderful portrayals that were originally created.

Well--anyway, they are in early production for the new Bonnie and Clyde. I hear that Hilary- gulp- Duff has been cast as Bonnie. Please Hilary, rock it out. I must say, seeing the early stills of her with the infamous pencil skirt, beret and blonde bob, were impressive. She looks great. Now, who is Clyde? Hmm.....gotta look this one up. One of my biggest childhood crushes was always Warren Beatty as Clyde (along with Richard Gere and Tony Curtis), so I look forward to finding out who will play him. Any of you who know, please tell me!

Anyhow- I will definitely be in line to see this one!

Sparkly Rings

Which pretty, sparkling ring should I wear today? Just for your information girls-the big, pretty, white flower ring on the right- you can get this in not only in white, but also red, black, pink and/or orange. They are available at Forvever 21.

www.forever21.com **Just go to the accessories section**

I get lots of compliments on that fun one when I do wear it.

SOTD -Altered Images - Happy Birthday

OMG! It's my Birthday!! And this, my favorite Birthday Song! Isn't her voice cute and funny?

Anyway- even though I'm an old hag now (lol)- I still feel, honestly, like I did when I was 21. Sometimes the little lower back creeks more than before, and oh- the booty is not exactly where it used to be. But that can always be rectified and I am working on it!

Weeeee! Birthday fun. Wow- I can't believe after my past 3 not so pretty years, I'm still rollin' through. teehe

Snowy Hell

Welcome to the horror that is us New Yorker's life today. I am, geographically, in the '7-10" of snow' category. Luckily, I get to spend the day inside, cozy and happy with 2 lovelies!
But- let me tell ya, I wish this crap was over. I am MORE than over this Winter.

SOTD Richard Marx - Don't Mean Nothing

It is 10 inches of snow here in New York, so I ain't going nowhere. It is actually quite nice to look at out the window when you know you don't have to go out into, what I like to call, hell. If hell does exist, it would be snowy and cold, not burning fires and heat. Fire and heat, I would actually like. Anyway, so I am home getting a lot done and, of course, have the tunes playing.

As much as I love music, top 40 has never really been my favorite. However, there are a handful of top 40 songs, from the past and present, that I do like. The above song by Richard Marx, which is playing on the radio right now, included. I just always liked the cute little 'trying to make it in Hollywood' sentiment.

Also, inspired by the fact that 2 of my best girlfriends and an ex-boyfriend whom I truly admire, are all in Los Angeles pursuing their careers in the 'industry'. I really hope I can see their names up on the big screen credits someday.

Money Manifestation and Purpose

I read the below on a blog that I occasionally check out. I thought it was 'shareable'. It's a little long. Just a little. But, regardless of that, you should really read it.

Most people when asked what they want, start with a list that includes, more money, a new car, a better home, financial freedom, improved relationships, to be in shape and so on. But when challenged as to why they want the things they describe, the list sometimes changes. On the topic of money, business people think in terms of revenue and profit milestones. I have started all of my consulting
by establishing a clear definition of their revenue and profit goals for the next year. But there's more to it. What is the ultimate goal? This idea, I also use for people's personal life. A metaphor.

While I am certainly not ignoring monetary and other metrics, I have expanded my focus on what it is that people really want. Here is the key that I feel is most important:

Are you in alignment with your purpose? Are you in alignment with the money, health, relationships you want?

If your goal is money, you may realize your goal and not be happy. So what is the point of the money? Or maybe your goal is money but the demands weakens your health. So what’s the point of the money? It is very clear that money, relationships and health are all interrelated. If one is out of balance the other suffers. Alignment is the key.

Do you know anyone who really does not like their job? They are making money, but how is their life and what effect does this have on their health and those around them? What effect does this have on their spouse, partner, children?

Do you know anyone who is not making money and struggling financially? That is a tough situation and most people in that situation have a single minded purpose- which is to make money without regard to how happy they will be when the money is flowing. If they pursue just the money, then they always end up in the same pattern anyway. I see this happen all the time.

If you are in a less than successful pattern, it is wise to move out of that pattern. It starts with awareness, definition of purpose and associating with like minded people and masterminding for goal achievement. So, put your passions and your relationships FIRST. And then, I promise you, that your successes (which include happiness, love and money) will all follow behind it. The problem with most people, is that they struggle so hard to get these 'things' first, to create the happiness and the joy and the love. And, it is, simply, the complete opposite. And, in addition, this way of thinking and living, puts you in a place of less power. Less power, because you are letting some outside force (a love relationship, money, job, material possessions,or lack thereof) be the things that are in control of you. Take back your right to be happy right now. No matter your situation. Take back the control over your life and your happiness. It's all in your own mind anyway, you know. The definition of what's good/bad. The envy from wishing you had what others in movies and magazines, hell even your neighbor, has. That, somehow, they are so much better than you. That their lives are so shiny and glorious. Give up the illusion. Do it now. Give up the anger, the frustration, and the struggle-and watch it all the things you keep wishing for, manifest.

Birthday Dress

I saw this dress yesterday in a kid's toy store window. A Pink Princess Dress. I thought to myself "How fun, to be a little girl and wear this on your Birthday". Funny thing is though, that as I snapped the photo and walked away, I thought:

"you know, I could probably buy that thing. And with my body, I would probably be able to squeeze into it. And further, I would show up to my Birthday Dinner and noone would laugh or think there was anything 'wrong' " (actually I can think of one that would say "Lady, what the f&$k are you wearing?"--but..)

Ok- that ain't right. For someone who claims to be a 'fashionista', there's something seriously wrong with that picture. This is hilarious to me. I should buy it and do it, just to test this theory.
hmmm...no, not even I can do this. Sorry.

SOTD Start Me Up - The Rolling Stones

First, because this is on VH1 classic right now.
But, ultimately, because The Rolling Stones are one of the last of the great RockandRoll bands. I wish they would never fade away and get old and die. I wish Mick Jagger would stay young, cocky and cool, like he is in this video, forever. Check him out guys---he is THE quentissential 'lead singer'. Just so odd and cool, he is.

If they ever taught a class on how to be a great rock band, The Rolling Stones should be the role models. I don't know, they are just so cool. I mean, come on- Who the hell is cooler in rock and roll than Keith Richards? Jeez- the drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and women, would kill ANY man of lesser strength. You gotta hand it to him.

***and look how much fun they are having in this video. This is such a testament as to why I am a rock and roll girl. It's awesome.

Happy Birthday Carrot Cake

Look how sweet. My Birthday is not until this Wednesday, March 4, so I wasn't even expecting this.
My girlfriends at work called me over from my desk the other day, one of them with a look of distress. I thought 'oh shit, there's a problem'. As I turned the corner, standing there were not only the girls I work with, but some clients as well, belting out Happy Birthday. As much as I love joyful, singing, 'all the attention on me' fun moments- when a big group of people are belting out "Happy Birthday" to me, I get giggly and red. It's a combo of joy, delight and embarrassment. All I can do is giggle like a clown. It makes me so happy. People singing, JUST FOR ME! I love it.
Anyway, look how nice. A carrot cake. (Cara said "Trenny, we know you like organic, so we got you carrot") .....Now that's thoughtful. One girl there was Jewish and told me to take the knife, smear my name with it and make a wish. A Jewish tradition that I had never heard of. Did you guys know this? ( and no, for the millionth time, I am NOT Jewish!! haha) Anyway, she then said that as I do it, I had to close my eyes and make my wish and it will come true. I got to closin' and smearin' and wishin', until Cara said "Jesus, Trenny, quit smearing before you kill the cake." hahaha- I was laughing so hard and had to explain that I had a lot of wishing to do! lol
....and Maritza made me her delicious (and my favorite) Empanadas. Delicious delight. I am a lucky girl. And sick to my stomache full. :)
*Hey, my little, funky hand looks so chubby in this picture! ewww- that looks funny!!!!!!!!
